Borçka Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced conscientious objector Şendoğan Yazıcı to 7 months and 15 days in prison for “inciting the public to disobey the law”. A lawsuit was filed against Yazıcı after he shared a draft evader report issued in 2022 on social media. Yazıcı was sentenced according to Article 217/1 of the Turkish Penal Code and his lawyers appealed the verdict. Yazıcı was sentenced to 5 months and 18 days in prison for the same offense in 2024.
