The trial of academic Hifzullah Kutum, who was charged with “making propaganda for a terrorist organization” on the grounds of his social media posts, began at the Elazığ 2nd Assize Court. Within the scope of the lawsuit, an administrative investigation was launched and the academic was dismissed in November; his posts containing the words “Kurd” and “Kurdistan” were shown as evidence of “crime”. Then, the targeted academic was arrested on November 6 and was released 4 days later after the indictment prepared against him was accepted. The prosecutor, who presented his opinion at the first hearing, demanded that the academic be penalized. The next hearing was scheduled for March 3.
