Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office started an investigation against HSBC Bank Chairman Süleyman Selim Kervancı due to ‘insulting the President.’ The investigation was opened due to Kervancı’s reposting of a video on the adaptation of a scene from the movie “Downfall” on the last days of Adolf Hitler to the Gezi Park protests on Twitter on June 2, 2013. The investigation was opened five years after the repost. Even though the post was made during a time when Erdoğan was the Prime Minister, Kervancı is charged with “insulting the President.”
