The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decided that the freedom of expression of Özgür Söylemez and Süleyman Yurtdaş were violated and sentenced Turkey to pay 4,000 Euros of compensation. Söylemez and Yurtdaş have been prosecuted and sentenced to judicial fines due to chanting the slogan, “Bijî Serok Apo” during a press statement held in 2008 on the lawsuit of closure against the Democratic Society Party (DTP).
