were on their way out from Turkey to participate in the 29th Conference of the Europe Greens Party organized in Berlin, Germany, were seized at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. The two names didn’t have a travel ban issued against them; whereas they were prevented from leaving to Germany.

The announcement made by the Twitter account of Green Left Party said, “Despite a lack of travel ban issued against Tuncaelli and Sönmez, their passports were seized and they were prevented from leaving the country. This unlawful procedure can not intimidate us, we will continue our fight.” The two names had criticized Turkey’s military operation in Afrin with their social media posts. A legal action has been taken against the two names in February due to ‘terrorist organization propaganda’ and ‘public incitement towards resentment and hostility’. Tuncaelli and Sönmez have been taken into custody within the case and were later released with judicial measure. In the statement he made to German news agency DPA, Sönmez stated that the travel ban against them was revoked by the court in July.
