A lawsuit was filed against Evrensel Daily’s Editor-In-Chief Fatih Polat due to ‘insulting the President’ with his column, entitled, “What do the addressee say on the allegations regarding Erdoğan’s family?” Polat copied the news reported by journalist Craig Shaw, entitled, “The Secret Offshore Agreement of the Erdoğan Family” in his column on May 28, 2017 and asked the question, “What do the addressee say on the allegations regarding Erdoğan’s family?” The indictment accepted by Bakırköy 31st Criminal Court of First Instance claims that the news was published in order to “defame, wear out the President and bring him under suspicion in front of Turkey and the entire world.” The first hearing of the case will be held on February 7, 2019 at 10:00.
