Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation after the footage taken in the courtroom of Ekrem İmamoğlu’s diploma trial in Silivri was shared on social media. In the statement, it was stated that taking video recordings constitutes a crime under Article 286 of the Turkish Penal Code. According to the article in question, those who make unauthorized audio or video recordings during a hearing can be sentenced to up to 6 months in prison.
