In the case concerning the killing of 12-year-old Nihat Kazanhan by police gunfire in the Cizre district of Şırnak, the defendant police officer Mehmet Nurbaki Göçmez has remained at large for 11 years. After the Constitutional Court ruled that there had been a violation of the right to life, the case was retried at the Cizre 1st Heavy Penal Court without the defendant in custody. As Göçmez, for whom a red notice had been issued, could not be located, the court postponed the trial until March 13, 2026.
