The court that accepted the indictment prepared by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on a charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information” ordered the continued detention of journalist Fatih Ergin. In an order dated 26 October, the court argued that there was concrete evidence indicating strong suspicion of an offense and grounds for detention, and that judicial control measures would be insufficient. Ergin’s first hearing was scheduled for 14:00 on 18 November 2026. The journalist had been held in prison since 28 September. The investigation began over a social media post by Ergin concerning the discovery of Turgay Tamer dead at his home after his name appeared in the investigation into the death of former MİT member Kaşif Kozinoğlu. Ergin initially described Tamer as a former forensic medicine employee, then corrected the post by stating that he had previously worked as a doctor on a prison campus. In the indictment dated 15 October, prosecutors sought his punishment under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code.
