Muhammed Emin Yıldırım, Istanbul representative of Köklü Değişim Medya, was detained in Istanbul over his social media posts. Yıldırım had criticized restrictions on the wearing of headscarves in schools in Azerbaijan and supported protests. On 21 October, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry banned 31 citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, including Yıldırım, from entering the country. The Baku administration alleged that the listed individuals had made statements targeting Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, national security and constitutional order, but did not disclose which posts formed the basis of the ban. Yıldırım was subsequently detained in Türkiye over his social media posts. Activist Fatih Erşahin, who had also criticized headscarf restrictions in Azerbaijan, announced that the Ankara Police Department had summoned him to give a statement over social media posts. No details were disclosed regarding the posts that were the subject of judicial proceedings against the two.
