Police detained Deputy Mayors Osman Şen and Rahile Demren, former Zoning Director E.T.T., Zoning Directorate employee Y.N.Ç., former municipal employees Ü.D. and A.E.S., and businessperson M.K. as part of an investigation into Silifke Municipality in Mersin. The seven were referred to the courthouse after police procedures. In an earlier stage of the investigation into allegations of bribery, bid rigging and extortion by a public official, the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had detained 20 people, including Mayor Mustafa Turgut. A judgeship arrested eight people, including Turgut, deputy mayors Ezgi Erdağ Demirtaş and Şerife Yörükçü, Chief of Staff Ersin Servi and Silifke Belediyespor Club Chair Sait Oğuz, while releasing 11 people under judicial control.
