DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Serhat Eren brought allegations of rights violations and torture at Osmaniye No. 2 T-Type Closed Prison before Parliament in a parliamentary question submitted to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek. Eren said lawyers were searched with handheld detectors after passing through an X-ray device, prison officers monitored lawyer-client meetings, and prisoners were threatened during administration and observation board interviews. He said the releases of Emin Çetintaş, Mehmet Kazıcı and Veysi Baltaş had been postponed. He reported delays in access to health services, quotas on the number of books, refusal to allow BirGün newspaper into the prison, rejection of transfer requests to prisons closer to families, restrictions on social and sports activities and inadequate food. Eren asked the Ministry to investigate the allegations. DEM Party MPs Serhat Eren, Onur Düşünmez and Baritan Güneş Altın also applied to Parliament’s Human Rights Inquiry Committee for an investigation.
