Artist Şêrko Kanîwar, founder and coordinator of cultural institutions including Ma Music Academy and Zarok Ma, was detained in Çınar while traveling from Diyarbakır to an event in Nusaybin district of Mardin. Kanîwar’s vehicle was stopped and he gave a statement at a police station. The case file contained no information about the grounds for the investigation into Kanîwar or the charges against him.
