In Urfa, journalist Mehmet Yetim was taken into custody following a raid on his home on April 18 and was arrested the same day. Yetim was charged with “spreading misleading information to the public” for reporting on allegations of child abuse involving a school principal. Journalists, politicians, and professional organizations condemned the arrest, stating it constituted an interference with press freedom.
