The Ankara West 14th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced seven journalists to 18 days in prison on February 24, 2026, on charges of “recording audio and video” during the May 16, 2024, decision hearing in the Kobani case. The court applied summary proceedings and converted the sentences to fines for some of the journalists. The journalists’ lawyers stated that they would appeal the decision, noting that the only evidence in the case file was a police report and that no technical examination had been conducted.
