The Istanbul 26th Heavy Penal Court ruled on the case of manager Ayşe Barım, who was tried on charges of being one of the organizers of the Gezi Park protests. The court first sentenced Barım to aggravated life imprisonment for “attempting to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey,” then reduced the sentence to 15 years, ruling that the crime remained at the stage of aiding and abetting. The court applied a good behavior reduction, setting the sentence at 12 years and 6 months. Barım was released on condition of a travel ban and judicial supervision until the Supreme Court process is completed.
