Following the targeting of a banner reading “Secular Revolutionary Democratic Republic Against Sharia, Fascism, and Darkness” hung by the Istanbul Provincial Organization of the Sol Party in the Sefaköy district of Istanbul, two party officials were detained. The Left Party announced that Provincial Executive Enis Çiçek and former Küçükçekmece District Spokesperson Şükrü Çetin had been detained. The party stated in its announcement that the detentions occurred after the banner was targeted by reactionary groups and called for the detainees to be released.
