In its September 2025 report, Dicle Fırat Journalists’ Association (DFG) announced that 10 journalists were detained, one was arrested, 19 were investigated, 22 were sued, access to 49 social media accounts and 30 news articles were blocked, and 6 websites were shut down. The report stated that after the appointment of a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate, access to social media was restricted for 21 hours and many news articles were censored on the grounds of “national security”.
