Free Journalists Initiative (ÖGI) launched the January report on rights violations against journalists. According to the report, 169 journalists are arrested in Turkey; new lawsuits were filed against four journalists, 100 journalists stood trial and five journalists were sentenced to a total of 21 years, 10 months and 15 days as well as 8,600 TL judicial fines in total in January. One journalist was deported.
