The prosecution of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Executive Board member and former People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Kars MP Mülkiye Birtane started due to her DTK activities. Birtane was previously detained on November 26, 2018 due to her activities in many provinces, especially in Diyarbakır, Ankara and Izmir. In the first hearing at Diyarbakır 4th Assize Court, Birtane indicated that she is in prison for about ten months and that her health issues are getting heavier, claiming release. The court issued for Birtane to remain arrested and postponed the hearing to November 2019.
