Inspectors who visited İzmir Tevfik Fikret Schools on February 20, 2026, took students selected from 4th grade elementary school to high school level out of class and questioned them in the library. The inspectors asked 9-year-old children questions such as “What do you understand when you hear the word ‘religion’?” and “Is the president being insulted in class?” and took their ID numbers and signatures. Parents reacted to their children being questioned without their knowledge and announced that they would file a complaint with the prosecutor’s office.
