Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Co-Chair Deniz Aktaş, who has been under arrest since January 24, was released on house arrest and judicial control conditions.
During the hearing held at Istanbul 14th High Criminal Court, the prosecutor demanded Aktaş’s continued detention. In his defense, he said, “The fact that I am on trial here is a trial of my political activities. Today, trustees are being appointed even to the CHP,” Aktaş said, emphasizing that the charges against him were political.
After the statements of the lawyers, the court decided to release Aktaş under house arrest.
The trial was adjourned until October 16.
