It was announced that CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency’s petition regarding the change of address is being held by Istanbul Governorate.
CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy **Mahmut Tanal** shared on his social media account, “Our petition regarding the relocation of our Istanbul Provincial Presidency has not been rejected by the Istanbul Governorship, but it is on hold. The governorship has no such authority. Not fulfilling the requirements of our petition and even keeping the process on hold is a crime of abuse of office.”
The process began after the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency Congress was canceled and Özgür Çelik and his administration were dismissed and replaced by **Gürsel Tekin and his committee as trustees**. Prior to Tekin’s entrance to the provincial building on September 8, the building was blockaded by the police and CHP supporters faced harsh police intervention.
Following this, CHP Headquarters sent an official petition to the governor’s office to change the address of the Istanbul Provincial Presidency. However, the petition has not been processed and continues to be kept on hold.
CHP leadership reacts to the situation, arguing that this stance is political, not legal.
