Taksim Square was banned this year as well as May 1st was celebrated in squares with songs and dances in various provinces of Turkey. After Istanbul Governorate has closed Taksim Square to May 1st, Workers’ Day, labour and professional organizations gathered in Bakırköy for a rally. Groups and political organization members wanting to celebrate May 1st in Taksim were intervened by the police in Şişli and Beşikraş. Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) Istanbul announced that 132 people, who used their Constitutional rights, were detained.
