Peace academic Mehmet Zencir and doctor Vedia Yeşim Bayanoğlu were detained in Izmir on charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ in connection with their speeches at a conference in Diyarbakır. Zencir had been dismissed from his job at Pamukkale University by a state of emergency decree.
