Journalist Sedef Kabaş was sentenced to 10 months in prison for “publicly disseminating misleading information” under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code due to a social media post about Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. The pronouncement of the sentence was postponed. An indictment had been filed against Kabaş in May 2025 for the same offense, seeking a prison sentence of 1–3 years.
