A new indictment has been filed against LeMan cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan on the grounds that he made a post containing insults directed at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Pehlevan denied the allegations, stating that the social media account in question did not belong to him. Previously, he had been charged with “inciting the public to hatred and hostility through the press” for the published cartoon, with a prison sentence ranging from 1 year and 10 months to 7 years and 10 months. The new indictment seeks a sentence of 1 year and 2 months to 4 years and 8 months in prison for Pehlevan on charges of “publicly insulting the President.” If the court accepts the indictment, Pehlevan will face trial for the second time.
