Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against Mezopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Mehmet Aslan on the grounds of “illegal organization membership”. It is learned that the investigation is based on the statements of a secret witness named “K8Ç4B3L1T5” who has testified against many journalists before.
Aslan’s statement was taken at Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate TEM Department and he was asked about the trainings organized by Dicle Fırat Journalists Association and the news he covered. Aslan denied the accusations and said “I had just started journalism when DFG was founded, it was not possible for me to attend this training. My journalistic activities are legitimate.”
