The verdict was announced in the trial of 10 people who were detained during the September 2 Festival held in Ümraniye’s 1 Mayıs Neighborhood in 2022. In the 10th hearing held at Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court, the defendants were acquitted of “making propaganda for an illegal organization”.
The court sentenced all defendants to 5 months in prison for “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and deferred the announcement of the verdict for some defendants. Three defendants were sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for “damaging public property” and one defendant was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment for “resisting to prevent the execution of duty”.
