Relatives of prisoners on hunger strike in high-security prisons began a sit-in protest in front of the Ministry of Justice in Ankara on April 2, 2026, after submitting a petition. Police intervened in the protest, detaining the families, then releasing them after a medical examination. The families stated that the prisoners’ health condition was critical and demanded that their requests for medical transfer be granted.
