On February 24, 2026, it was revealed that male students at the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Imam-Hatip Middle School in Arnavutköy, Istanbul, were reciting the Salafi-inspired “Muvahhiddin Oath.” It was stated that the text was identical to the content recited at meetings of the Tawhid and Sunnah Community, led by Halis Bayancuk, who is known to have ties to ISIS. Footage was circulated on social media accounts belonging to Bayancuk’s group. The same group launched a competition for children aged 0-12 and announced that 10 children who recited the oath would receive a book signed by Bayancuk. This development occurred while the Ministry of National Education’s Ramadan Circular and debates on the religiousization of education were ongoing.
