The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against Mabel Matiz and director Sinan Tuncay over the music video for the song “Ha Leylim.” Prosecutors sought between six months and three years in prison for each on a charge of “publishing obscene images, writings or words through the press and media or facilitating their publication.” The investigation was launched following a report by the Security Branch dated 13 August 2026, and the indictment included an expert report examining a dance between two men. Prosecutors alleged that the lyrics and images together pushed the “generally accepted limits of public morality.” They argued that the artistic-work exception under Article 226/7 of the Turkish Penal Code could not apply because the video had been published without a restriction preventing children from accessing it. Matiz said he intended to describe love with the song. Matiz and Tuncay said they wanted to portray Thracian weddings in the video.
