JINNEWS reporter Rabia Önver was summoned to give a statement in Yüksekova, Hakkâri, as part of an investigation into “making propaganda for an organization” over her social media posts. Önver gave a statement together with her lawyer at the District Police Department’s Counterterrorism Branch. Police questioned the journalist about posts concerning condolence visits for PKK members who died on 25, 26 and 27 August, her relationship with people appearing in photographs, and whether anyone in her family had links to the PKK. Police also questioned a post about journalist and director Halil Dağ and asked whether she had made her posts upon instructions from anyone. Önver said her posts were part of her journalistic activity. She left the police station with her lawyer after giving her statement.
