Istanbul 2nd Criminal Judgeship of Peace rejected T24’s appeal against the access block imposed on its website and X account. The judgeship stated that the decision complied with procedure and law and that there was no concrete evidence requiring it to be changed. Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace had blocked access to T24’s website and X account upon the request of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. T24 appealed the decision on 1 October and requested that the application be expedited on 5 October. Lawyers Özlem Tekşen and Gökhan Tekşen argued that the access block violated the Constitution and rulings of the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights. They said only 21 of the 118 items cited as grounds for the decision had been published in the past year and that 22 of the 57 writers had left T24 years earlier. The lawyers emphasized that shutting down the entire site was disproportionate when access to individual items could have been blocked. After the appeal was rejected, T24 decided to apply to the Constitutional Court.
