Social media influencers Cansum Kaya and Sinan Kaya were detained in Ankara over TikTok posts. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation into the two under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code on a charge of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility or degrading a section of the public.” Kaya and Sinan Kaya were detained on the prosecutor’s instructions.
