The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation into allegations made by Yeni Parti Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik in statements about the Üsküdar deputy mayor election. Çelik alleged that Municipal Council member Ayhan Aydın, who switched from the CHP to the AK Party, called him and said he had changed parties because a prosecutor threatened him with arrest. The prosecutor’s office ordered that Aydın be brought in to give a statement regarding the allegations.
