Access was blocked to 184 social media accounts as part of an “obscenity” investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor’s office requested that access be blocked to accounts it considered to contain obscene content and that the content be removed. Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace accepted the request and ordered the accounts blocked and the content removed from publication. The court ordered that the decision be sent to the Association of Access Providers and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority.
