Fidan Atalay, known on social media as “Fidan Hoca,” was arrested as part of an investigation into her Instagram posts. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office considered Atalay’s videos and photographs to fall under “obscenity” and also accused her of “laundering assets derived from crime” on the allegation that she earned income from the content. Atalay, who was detained in İzmir, gave a statement via the SEGBİS video-conferencing system on 29 August and was then referred to the Ankara Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for her arrest. The judgeship ordered her arrest.
