Migros Warehouse workers took their protest against wage increases and layoffs to the front of the home of Anadolu Group Chairman Tuncay Özilhan in Beykoz. After the press statement, police intervened against workers who wanted to continue their protest. Police cordoned off the area and removed the workers; journalists were also removed from the area. DGD-SEN announced that approximately 100 workers were handcuffed and detained. The workers stated that they were resisting the 28 percent wage increase imposed on them, the layoffs carried out under Code 49, and the subcontracting system. The union stated that despite Migros’ promise to hire thousands of workers employed in subcontractor warehouses, many workers had been dismissed. It was reported that workers were beaten during the intervention and that the arrests were unlawful.
