French journalist Raphaël Boukandoura was detained while covering a press conference in Istanbul and held for two days at the Arnavutköy Deportation Center. The Istanbul Governor’s Office stated that there was no record of administrative detention against the journalist. MLSA Co-Director Veysel Ok stated that this action, taken without a court order, was a clear violation of the law and announced that they would file a compensation lawsuit against the Governor’s Office. It was reported that Boukandoura was released two days later.
