The verdict was announced in the trial of lawyers who are members of the Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) in Istanbul and members of the Association for Solidarity with Families of Prisoners (TUAD). The Istanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court sentenced 28 defendants to prison terms on various charges in the case, which was opened in 2016. The court acquitted 11 defendants and separated the files of some defendants. Zübeyde Teker was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months, Ramazan Demir to 10 years and 15 months, and Mahmut Doğu to 10 years in prison. Numerous bar association representatives and international observers attended the hearing. Lawyers stated that the decision was a violation of the right to defense.
