The Ministry of Interior has authorized an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Chief of Staff Nevzat Uzunoğlu on charges of “abuse of office” and “neglect of supervisory duties” over allegations related to concert expenditures. It was also noted that the municipality’s distribution of free soup near hospitals and universities has been included in the investigation. Yavaş stated that the decision was a double standard and announced that they would appeal to the Council of State. CHP leader Özgür Özel said the process was a political move. The investigation file contains allegations of 154 million lira in public losses related to 32 concert services purchased by ABB; the indictment against 14 people, five of whom are in custody, was accepted by the Ankara 34th Heavy Penal Court.
