Detained for 145 days, journalist Furkan Karabay has been placed in solitary confinement. His lawyer Enes Ermaner confirmed that Karabay is being held alone in Marmara (Silivri) Prison.
Karabay was arrested on May 15 on charges of “insulting the President” and “targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism”. The prosecutor’s office had demanded a prison sentence of 6 to 15 years for Karabay in the indictment prepared on the grounds of YouTube broadcasts and social media posts.
