Writer Yavuz Ekinci continued to be put on trial on charges of “making illegal organization propaganda” for his novel “Rüyası Bölünenler” published ten years ago. The second hearing of the case was held on October 6 at Istanbul 23rd High Criminal Court. Ekinci and his lawyer repeated their previous defenses. The court adjourned the hearing to November 10 for the completion of the missing issues.
The case against Ekinci was opened as a result of an investigation launched after a reader complained to CİMER one day after the February 6 earthquakes. The novel was banned and banned by the Istanbul 7th Criminal Court of Peace on March 13, 2023. Ekinci applied to the Constitutional Court against the ban, but the file is still pending review.
