An indictment was issued against Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, claiming a sentence of imprisonment for up to 2 years and 4 months. Kaftancıoğlu is accused of ‘insulting a public official’ due to her statement about Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun’s illegal construction next to his house and the municipality’s intervention in this construction. Another lawsuit filed against Kaftancıoğlu following Altun’s complaint is ongoing.
