Four mothers, who were among those performing a sit-in protest in front of Gebze Women’s Prison in April 2019 in order to draw attention to the situation of their hunger-striker children and were exposed to police violence, stood trial in the first hearing of the lawsuit filed against them at Kocaeli 4th Assize Court. The four mothers are charged with “committing a crime on behalf of an illegal organisation” and “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911.” The second hearing was scheduled for May 21.
