Şırnak Governorate banned all protests and demonstrations in the central province and all surrounding districts in order to “protect national security and public order” due to the anniversary of the first armed protest of the PKK on August 15th. The Governorate listed the events banned as following: “All meetings and demonstrations, press meetings, rallies, tents, petition campaigns, booths, sit-in protests, graveyard commemorations, mass funerals etc.”
