On our tenth meeting, Hülya Üçpınar and Tolga Kızılay from Nonviolent Education and Research Association introduced their new database of non-violent actions carried out in Turkey in recent history. The database and the map present a great opportunity to view the variety, creativity and the history of the non-violent actions employed by diverse movements such as environmentalism, women’s rights, and anti-militarism. We had the chance to walk down the time tunnel and discuss the history of non-violence in Turkey together with exercises which allowed us to rethink the concept of nonviolence.
