On our workshop in December, we talked about veganism as a form of non-violence with Burak Özgüner from Animal Rights Monitoring Committee and Özge Özgüner from Association for Struggle Against Sexual Violence. Özge emphasized the sexual violence against animals in dairy industry and the interspecies aspect of male violence. Burak presented Committee’s 2016 report on the violence against animals and animal deaths, demonstrating the scope of speciesism. We found the opportunity to discuss the philosophical aspects of veganism as non-violence and its sustainability.
