Warrant against Ferhat Tunç before investigation concludes

Istanbul 37th Assize Court issued a warrant against artist Ferhat Tunç with the allegation that he has made “terrorist organisation propaganda” through his social media posts. Tunç stated that the warrant was issued before the investigation phase was concluded and before he testified at the Prosecutor’s Office. In the related social media posts, Tunç had reacted against the Afrin operation and commemorated civilians losing their lives during the operation. The indictment against Tunç included him quoting PKK leader Öcalan, who said, “We will resolve the situation within six months.”

Reacting against the lawsuit against him, as well as the warrant issued, Tunç stated, “I am finding out the warrant against me together with a new lawsuit filed. I do not understand how the file turned into a lawsuit before the investigation phase concludes. This situation is an embarrassment in legal terms. They continue to produce lawsuits against me, based on my Twitter account. So what if I have called the Efrîn operation an ‘occupation?’ If it’s not an occupation to displace hundreds from their homes and land, to replace their homes with ISIS-like buildings, what is it?”
